Adding Debit and Credit Cards

Simply follow the steps below:

  • From the bottom of the Home Screen, tap on your “Wallet”.
  • Next to “Cards” tap “Add new”.
  • Scan the card by tapping the camera icon, or enter the card details manually.
  • After you confirm all details are correct and complete, tap “Save Card”.
  • You will be prompted to enter the second factor of authentication (some banks will send an OTP, others will ask a security question).
  • Tap “Continue” to finish adding your card.

Currently, you can add any debit or credit card issued from UAE banks from the following major payment networks:

  • Mastercard
  • Visa
  • American Express
  • Discover
  • Diners Club
  • JCB

An error could occur while adding a new card for a few reasons:

  • Balance application is not up to date.
  • Card details entered are incorrect.
  • Card is blocked or canceled by your issuing bank.
  • You are attempting to add a debit/credit card you have already added.
If the above instances do not apply to your issue, follow the instructions presented by the error message or restart the app and try adding the card again.

  • Tap on the “Wallet” icon at the bottom of your Home Screen.
  • Select the card you wish to remove.
  • Tap “Remove card” on the bottom of the screen, then “Confirm” to remove the card from your wallet.

It is not possible to edit debit/credit card information after you have already added it to your Balance Wallet.

Remove the card and add it again with the correct details.

When you add a new debit/credit card to your Balance Wallet, the system automatically charges 1 AED to the card to confirm it is active.

The amount is immediately reversed upon confirmation and it will be reflected on your bank statement.

There is no limit on how many credit/debit cards you may add to your Balance Wallet - feel free to add as many as you like!

You will need to update your card details on Balance by removing the expired card and adding your new card details.

Using ApplePay as a source of funds

ApplePay will not show up as a source of funds if it has not been correctly set up in your iPhone's Apple wallet.

Adding a bank account as a source of funds

  • Tap on the “Wallet” icon on the bottom of your Home Screen.
  • Tap “Add new”.
  • Select the bank you wish to add from the list provided.
  • Enter the username and password you use to login to your mobile banking application.
  • Tap “Approve” to consent to actions requested by Balance. You will not be able to use Balance unless you approve this action.
  • If prompted, complete the security measure requested by your bank and tap “Continue” to finish adding your bank account.

When you add your main bank account, all sub-accounts will be automatically added to your Balance Wallet.

Some banks require a cooling period to add Balance as a beneficiary.

The cooling period varies from one bank to another. Check with your bank for beneficiary cooling period times.

For your convenience, each bank will have its cooling period displayed on your Balance Home Screen with the time remaining.

You will be notified once the cooling period is over and the bank account is ready to use.

  • Tap on the “Wallet” icon at the bottom of your Home Screen.
  • Select the bank account you wish to remove.
  • Tap “Remove account” on the bottom of the screen.
  • Confirm you want to remove the account and all accounts associated with it.

You will only be able to add a bank account if the following conditions apply:

  • The bank is on our approved list of partner banks.
  • Your Balance app is up to date.
  • You are entering your username, password, and additional info accurately.
  • You are not logged in to the same account on another device.

If the problem persists:
  • Follow the instructions listed by the error message.
  • Restart the app and try adding the card again.

How can I remove a debit/credit card from my Balance Wallet?

  • Tap on the “Wallet” icon at the bottom of your Home Screen.
  • Select the card you wish to remove.
  • Tap “Remove card” on the bottom of the screen, then “Confirm” to remove the card from your wallet.
